About Me

So..... about me.

The first thing I will tell you is that I'm not at all photogenic, so you probably won't see many pictures of me on the blog. :)  If I ever get a decent one, I use it to death, so be prepared to get sick of the ones I use.   ;)

I feel very passionately about finding joy in the daily moments.  If we're always "chasing the dream" and can't be happy until we land it, we'll never be happy.  I'm not by nature a Pollyanna, always chirpy, bubbly and upbeat.  By nature I tend to be a little on the melancholy side.  So I've had to LEARN to find joy.

I CHOOSE JOY.

On a daily basis.

I look for beautiful things.  I find something to be grateful for every day.  I no longer expect perfection, I've learned to embrace life even when it's not perfect.  When I'm not perfect. When my children aren't perfect, my finances aren't perfect, my home isn't perfect, my situation isn't perfect. Life is still a beautiful thing.  I hope to use this blog to encourage you to join me in this joyful pursuit.

MY LIFE:

My husband and I have been married for a really long time. ;)  We married very young, and had all of the struggles that young married couples have.  But we persevered through thick and thin, and have ended up with a marriage that is a huge blessing to both of us.  We have five children, ranging in age from ten to (almost) thirty. We've homeschooled for the past twenty years.  Only one left in school now.  Parenting has been the hardest thing we've ever done - much harder than we had ever dreamed - but each one is a blessing to our lives in their own way.

We stay very busy working in our church.  My husband is the all-around Man Friday, and I sing on the Praise Team and help out wherever I'm needed.

MY HOME:

We live in the semi-country in a double-wide mobile home.  I say semi-country, because we're not really out in the country, but we are on an acre in a fairly secluded area.  We're less than twenty minutes from downtown Ft. Worth, and less than ten minutes from two big shopping areas. So - the best of both worlds in my opinion.

We are aware that mobile homes can carry a stigma as being "less than", but we really, really love ours.  The biggest thing we love is the fact that it is paid off.  :)  Since we desire to keep our debt load very low, this was a perfect solution for us. Having no mortgage payment just Rocks Like Crazy. We have also done a lot of work to it, installing ceramic tile flooring, texturing the walls, upgrading the bathrooms.  I'll be sharing pictures, and more of the upgrading story on the blog.  Instead of insisting that I need some dream home before I love my home, I've decided to create the home I LOVE right HERE.  And it has worked.  I truly love where I live.  No need to go out and get a $1,000 mortgage payment. :)

I love all things "homey".  I love to cook, decorate, garden.... and then decorate some more. :)  I enjoy scrapbooking, sewing - crafting of all sorts.  I had a realization the other day that I'm not very happy unless I am creating something.  It is somewhat of a necessity for me.

So that's the highlights - About Me.

I look forward to getting to know all About You!

    1. That's wonderful! I will definitely come visit your blog. Thank you for adding me to your roll!

I, too, am excited about showing people that mobile homes can be amazing, beautiful homes. At *much* less cost than a traditional home. We also are working on becoming debt free, and not having a mortgage payment is going to help us reach that goal much, much quicker.

Thanks so much for stopping by!
